Dr. Martin Hamilton


Bio:
Dr. Martin Hamilton is a veterinarian whose practice is limited to veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. He obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2016. After spending several years in general practice in both the United Kingdom and Canada, he elected to pursue a residency in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery in Ottawa in 2020. Following completion of his residency, Dr. Hamilton moved to Guelph, Ontario, to join the team at Hale Veterinary Clinic, assuming the role of medical director following Dr. Hale’s retirement in May 2023. He has a special interest in feline oral pathology and has published in the Journal of Veterinary Dentistry.


Synopsis:

Feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS) can be a frustrating condition to deal with, both for us as professionals and the cats affected by it, though is a condition that is often misdiagnosed. This lecture will focus on oral inflammatory conditions in cats, with a review of the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment options available for feline juvenile gingivitis, periodontitis, and feline chronic gingivostomatitis.
